12th August 1940

News on the radio today of German attacks on the S. Coast, several towns bombed.

The Imperial War Museum's Battle of Britain website explains that 12th August 1940 was a significant date in the Battle of Britain as the Luftwaffe began a systematic assault on Fighter Command's forward airfields and radar stations.
