14th March 1941
Sleep walking again last night. Found myself standing at the door of the cell [at the Castle], listening to ghostly footsteps coming over the bridge. They died away as they reached the door and I became more awake.

Would love to know more about the 'hauntings in the Castle!
EJR does mention unexplained footsteps being heard in the Castle on several occasions in his diaries and the atmosphere of the Castle seems to have got to him after having to spend so many nights there during the war. CP
