2nd May 1941
Another quiet night, although fine and clear. Short alarm, but very few planes about. Heard today that the Duchess of Gloucester had been in the town on Wednesday, inspecting a Red Cross depĂ´t. How I wish I had seen her, the most attractive of all the Royal Duchesses. Had supper in the Castle tonight.
